Brass Set Screws

Benefits at a glance:

• Fully threaded shank.
• Used to fix fibre cement gutters together.

Brass set screws are similar to hex head screws, except that they have a full thread instead of a threadless shank. They have a hexagonal head for fastening down (setting) parts or components that might otherwise be able to move or shift relative to one another, via a socket wrench or spanner. Hence, they are commonly used to fasten an object within or against another object, the most common being to secure a pulley or gear to a shaft. Set screws are generally headless, meaning the screw is fully threaded and has no head that extends beyond the diameter of the screw thread. The set screws function by passing through a threaded hole in one component and resting firmly against the surface of a second part on the rear side.
Brass set screws, as their name implies, are made of solid brass with a shiny finish.
