N Type Solar Panels

“N-type Solar Panels” are a photovoltaic (PV) panel that uses n-type silicon as the base material, rather than p-type silicon (which is more common). The “n” in n-type stands for “negative,” meaning the silicon is doped with phosphorus, which adds extra electrons to the material.

Benefits at a glance:

  • N-type cells generally have a higher efficiency because they suffer less from impurities and recombination losses.
  • They don’t suffer from the Light-Induced Degradation (LID) effect, which affects p-type panels due to boron-oxygen reactions.
  • N-type panels maintain better efficiency in high temperatures and low-light conditions.
  • N-type panels typically have longer warranties due to the lower degradation rates.
