Splice plates are thick metal sheets that reinforce the connection between structural steel beams, and they must be carefully reinforced to ensure a secure bond. It is used for the butt jointing of timbers with similar cross section, normally for replacing rotten or burnt timbers. Made from hot dipped galvanised steel. holes are spaced at 45mm centres.
