Why are the Armeg drill bits such a popular choice amongst electricians?
Armeg is the UK’s ONLY manufacturer of carbide-tipped masonry and hammer drill bits, with a unique SDS QFDS shank, there’s no one quite like Armeg to meet your drilling needs.
With over 30 years of experience manufacturing high-quality, innovative, and market-leading drilling solutions, it is no wonder Armeg drill bits are such a trusted name amongst electricians in terms of performance, endurance, and precision.
Why the Armeg drill bits range is a must-have for many electricians:
For certain drilling jobs, a normal drill is just not enough. That is why electricians, builders, and plumbers use special hammer drills called SDS drills which have a free front-back moving drill bit instead of a fixed one in the hammer drill.
There are 3 types of SDS drills, the SDS, SDS+, and SDS Max. In this article, we will be focusing on the more commonly used, SDS and SDS+ drills.
Firstly, SDS and SDS+ drill bits can be used interchangeably however, for SDS+ drills, longer SDS drill bits can be used.
The SDS and SDS+ drills use 4 rail (shank end) 10mm diameter drill bits which are ideal for drilling high-strength materials such as concrete, masonry, and bricks and have a more powerful hammer action than hammer drills.
SDS and SDS+ drills have a slotted drive shaft and can be used with 10mm diameter x 10cm-20cm drill bits. They are used for the fitting and/ removal of drill attachments quickly and efficiently using SDS/SS+ drill bits. The drill bit sizes can vary from 5/32 inches to 1-1/8 inches.
The SDS+ drill bits are the most commonly used drill bits, with a diameter of 4mm to 30mm, and lengths of 110mm to 1500mm, whilst its shank measures 10mm. Its body is made of steel, and tiny blades of carbide brazed on the impact end of the drill bit for smashing through stones in concrete and drilling holes effortlessly. This also ensures a hard and durable cutting head, perfect for heavy-duty deep drilling.
The UK’s ONLY manufacturer of carbide-tipped masonry and hammer drill bits… but what exactly are carbide-tipped masonry drill bits?
Carbide-tipped masonry drill bits are drill bits made of steel with a carbide tip. They are manufactured by mixing tungsten with carbon making it the hardest drill bit for cutting through the toughest materials. They have a higher melting and boiling point than steel, perfect for industrial applications and cutting through concrete, masonry, tile, and more.
The Armeg drill bits range:
The Armeg YMSP0550L 5.5mm 135° HSS Flute Ground Split Point Drill Bit is the perfect tool for fixing holes, tapping and clearance, light engineering, workshops, automotive maintenance, and so much more, thanks to its instant start-up, accuracy, and durability capabilities. It also features a purpose-made 135-degree angle at the end of the drill bit which is ideal for drilling in sheet materials. Even better, it allows you to accurately centre the drill bit, reducing wander thanks to its spilt point design.
